A lot of applications (including rootkits, trojans, viruses and other malicious software) set themselves to start automatically when Windows starts. You can improve your computer's performance by preventing unnecessary programs from running automatically.

This database allows you to search for files that you find starting automatically on your computer and determine if they are malicious, unnecessary or safe to run. To find out what programs are running on your computer when Windows starts, you can try the CESAM Anti-Malware. Using it, you can disable any program, which starts automatically, and it will no longer start.

Each file in the database and in the CESAM main window has a status assigned to it. Here is the explanation:

Malware Malware Malicious files: trojans, rootkits, viruses, worms, spyware, etc.
Unwanted Unwanted Potentially unwanted programs, e.g. various adware applications
